Launch of New Mobile Unit
On 13th May 2012, we launched our new mobile cancer detection unit and conducted a cancer detection camp at Tilak Nagar, New Delhi. This Camp was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. K.S.Dhariwal, from London. In this medical checkup camp we examine 148 people, did 21 mammography, 35 ECG, 92 tested for sugar and BP, found 5 High Sugar and 8 high BP patients. Awareness pamphlets were distributed and awareness lectures was delivered to people but professional doctors.
Awareness Walk at Yamuna nagar
Roko cancer did an awareness walk and a medical camp in Yamuna nagar on 21st April 2012. It was the first major event done in Harayana with the help of
Guru Nanak Khalsa College. Institutions and Khalsa Autos. We had 750 students, teachers and lots of Faculty members on a 5kilometer walk around the town.Mr and Mrs Bhupinder Singh who are very well known personalities did a great job organising this Mega event with the help of The principal of Guru Nanak Khalsa College. The chief Guest was Mrs Gulati Ex chief secretary to Chief Minister of Harayana and is now Information commissioner in Harayana.Roko Cancer was honoured to have the local Dignitaries like the D.C. ,Police Chief and Civil Surgeon Mr Sharma attend this Grand Event.Lots of women turned up for the free Mammography service and the medical Camp. It was an Excellent Function very well organised by Sr Bhupinder Singh ji. We thank them with all our heart to have invited us in Harayana.
Awareness Walk at Chandigarh
On 9th March 2012, Chandigarh witnessed a most spectacular event organised by the MKC Trust,Uk and Roko Cancer, India. On the ocassion of International Womens Day a cancer awareness walk was flagged by Roko Ambassador Kirron Kher at the Sukhna lake. A free health checkup camp was inaugurated by Kirron Kher where many women went through with free mammograms, ECG, Blood pressure monitoring and Diabetes tests. This walk was terminated at the sector 17 Plaza where all prayed for the speedy recovery of cricketer Yuvraj Singh. At sector 17 we were joined by Yuvraj Singh's father Mr Yograj Singh.
Fundraising at Waterloo Station
On Wednesday 30th November, MKC Trust Roko Cancer held a fundraising event at Waterloo Station to raise money and spread awareness of the charity. Three members of the Roko Cancer team were joined by six volunteers over the course of the day to collect money on the platform with Roko Cancer collection tins and buckets. Roko Cancer spread its message of awareness leading to early detection and possible cure by giving out its own Roko Cancer information sheets to the public therefore enabling them to be more informed about breast cancer and its dangers. Roko pens were also given out to children and generous donators. The event was a highly enjoyable and successful day. Roko Cancer collected over £450 from Waterloo Station passengers.
Featherstone Sports Center’s
On the 5th November 2011, Mr A.P.S Chawla (CEO of Roko Cancer) and Mr Deep Dhir (PR and Marketing Director) visited Featherstone Sports Centre in Southall where a taekwondo group helped to raise money for Roko Cancer. Predominantly an Asian group, they were concerned that their relatives both here and in India should be checked for breast cancer and other diseases.When Deep Dhir met Mr Jagir, the leader of the taekwondo group, at another function he explained to him the work that Roko Cancer does and Mr Jagir felt that he must help in some way. After speaking to his taekwondo group at the Featherstone Sports Centre they all decided to raise some money to support the cause. On the 5th November a cheque of £700 was presented to Mr A.P.S. Chawla by Mr Jagir and his team from Featherstone Sports Centre.
Charity Dinner at House of Commons
MKC Trust Roko Cancer Campaign celebrated ten years of service to the community in the UK and in India at the House of Commons, Palace of Westminster on Thursday 13th October 2011, which was attended by many parliamentarians. Rt.Hon Dominic Grieve, Attorney General, was the chief guest and gave a passionate speech about the work Roko Cancer does and encouraged the guests to donate money to this worthy cause.
Roko Cancer was praised by many other parliamentarians throughout the evening, including Rt.Hon Stephen Timms, Shadow Minister, Rt.Hon Tony Baldry, Second Church Estates Commissioner and Lord Sheikh, helping to raise substantial funds for the charity.
The NRI programme, started by Mr K.S. Dhaliwal, Global Ambassador of Roko Cancer, was applauded by the speakers.

Many guests showed up to the event which featured speeches from the chairman of Roko Cancer Mr A.P.S Chawla, marketing and PR director Deep Dhir as well as figures such as Lord Dholakia. The event was held in the Members Dining Room.
Documentaries of the charity’s work were shown to the guests who were able to appreciate the work being done in the UK and India.
Mr Chawla, chairman of the charity, thanked everybody and presentations of mementoes were also made to Indian Women’s Association, Bucks Punjabi Society and other organisations for their continued support to the charity over the years.
Adopt Your Village
We highly appreciate the initiative of our NRI supporters worldwide who have adopted their villages in Punjab to conduct free cancer awareness and detection camp . We thank you for your support in this campaign which will save many lives. The NRI camps have been very successfully conducted in Darewala, Mohem, Roraka Kalan, Ebrahim, areas in Jalandhar District by doing 798 Examination, 252 mammography.
Lesley J Saunders’exhibition on Womens Day
Lesley J Saunders, who is Asian Photography’s regular columnist, is exhibiting her photographs of 'The Real Women of India' at The Nehru Centre, 8 South Audley Street, London, W1K 1HF on 8th March 2011 to celebrate the 100th International Women’s Week. Her exhibition is in support of ROKO Cancer that she has avidly supported for nearly two years. All proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to ROKO Cancer. Lord Sheikh of Cornill will formally inaugurate the exhibition.
Breast Awareness - BME Carers/Service Users Support Group
On 3rd February- 2011, This group is for carers and service users from the BME Group so there were women from Africa, India and Pakistan present at the breast awareness workshop. In total there were 21 women present. The talk was enjoyed by all the group and the session was rounded off with a quiz on breast cancer awareness and mammograms.

Hon'ble chief minister of punjab Prakash singh badal, honored Mr. A.P.S CHAWLA for his dedication in the field of free education on 63rd All india Sikh Educational conference.
The Pakistan India & UK Friendship Forum Award
MKC Trust received the award for Roko (Stop) cancer initiative and for charitable work in the awareness and early detection of cancer. The award was collected by the founder, Mr. APS Chawla.
British Community Honors Award
Mr. Chawla Chairman of Roko Cancer MKC Trust was awarded the Service to British Muslim Community Award at the House of Lords on Thursday 16th September.The Award was presented by the Rt. Honorable Dominic Grieves.
India Internatio nal Award

Mr. APS Chawla, chairman of Roko Cancer MKC Trust was recognised for his work with the asian community and MKC Trust was awarded the Indian Organisation of the year award 2009 at India International Foundation on the 21st September by the Indian High Commissioner of Britain.
Annual Fundrasing Event
MKC Trust – Roko cancer campaign held its annual fund raising dinner and dance at the Radisson Blu Portman hotel in London W1 on Friday 1st October 2010.
The chief guest for the evening was Dr. Vince Cable Minister for business and Innovation skills who began the nights main proceedings by lighting the lamp for awareness and early detection of cancer inspiring hope and peace for all from around the world.
The event was also attended by a host of dignitaries including Lord and Lady Sheikh, Rt. Hon. Stephen Timms M.P. Rt.Hon Keith Vaz M.P and specialists from the field of medicine. Including, Dr Ray and Trevor Powells cancer specialists and other dignitaries form the local community.
The evening was supported by Quest Diagnostics, a host of local businesses and Barclays Bank where funds were raised through holding a heads or tails game, a surprise gift tree and a raffle. An auction was also conducted.
In spite of the current economic climate the event was a great success and raised over 30,000 pounds.
Rt. Hon Vince Cable said "I am pleased with what the Roko cancer is doing for ethnic communities in Britain and India by launching the mobile units.”
Lotus Worldwide In Aid Of Roko Cancer Campaign
Lotus Worldwide an International Organisation supporting the underprivileged worldwide organised an event in aid of Roko Cancer Campaign at The Thistle London Heathrow Hotel on 26th June 2010.The event was organised by Mr. Paul Riat.
Roko Cancer is emerging as a leading charity in India and UK conducting campaigns and programmes in various states of India. This is the only charity in India conducting mass awareness on cancer and early detection through its Mobile Cancer Detection Unit. It is planning its operations in south Asian countries in the future.
Hon'ble Mukul Sangma, CM of Meghalaya state visit MKC Trust , London

Dr. Sangma said in co-operation with the 'Roko Cancer' campaign, the state government has initiated several programmes for early detection and screening of cancer among women. He met Mr. A.P.S Chawla, Chairman MKC Trust, London who assured full cooperation of Roko Cancer Campaign for setting up hospitals and training institutes in Meghalaya for early detection of cancer and also training local nurses and doctors with the support of Hospitals and Institutes from London.
The delegation comprised of Mr. Rowell Lyngdoh , Deputy Chief Minister & Health Minister ,Dr. P.W. Khongjee, Parliamentary Secretary,Health, Mr. L. Rymbui, Co-Chairman, Meghalaya State Health Advisory Board,Mr. Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, Chairman, Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation, Mr. H.M. Shangpliang, OSD to CM. The Roko Cancer Trust from India was represented by Ms. Isha Bhandari, Director. According to Isha “Various possibilities are being worked out to convene the latest technologies and the information related to Cancer and Health Care in Meghalaya with the support of Roko Cancer Campaign to reach out to the population at large”.
Breast Cancer Awareness Drive
Globus Initiates "Breast Cancer Awareness Drive" as part of their women's festival called "Life Is beautiful" in Assosiation with Roko Cancer Charitable Trust. This awareness will be done from7th May - 30th May 2010 at their 25 stores on various locations of India. It is estimated that around 757000 persons are being aware by this Breast Cancer Awareness Drive.ondo
